Philip is delighted to have been invited to accompany the Cefn Hengoed
Ladies' Choir from mid-2011. He is currently undertaking a Masters Degree at
the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, focussing particularly on the
music of the Second Viennese School and recently of the late British
composer William Alwyn. He is also an on-call continuo player for the
RWCMD's early music ensemble Badinerie and (at the other extreme) is
involved with Cardiff's Wreckhead Ensemble, who work closely with
contemporary composers from within Wales and beyond in order to perform
and often premiere new compositions.
Malcolm obtained a B.Mus. (Hons) at Cardiff University. Malcolm was
head of Music at several Welsh Schools and Organist and
Choirmaster in several Churches. In 1984, he became Organist and
Choirmaster at St. David’s Cathedral, Pembrokeshire, and is
presently, Organist and Choirmaster at St. John’s Church, Maindee,
Newport. He was appointed Assistant Accompanist to the Choir in
2007. An examiner for the ABRSM, Malcolm has composed choral
music; he is a freelance accompanist for choirs and musical
examinations.
