Musical Director
Born and educated in Merthyr Tydfil, David graduated with honours from the University of Wales, Lampeter in 2000. In 2002 he gained a Post Graduate Certificate in Education and now teaches in variety of schools across different counties in South Wales.
David’s musical interests began when he became a member of the Cyfarthfa High School Choir and Cefn Coed Male Voice Choir in his teenage years. He studied piano with the late Gwen Rowland Price from the age of 9 and then with Susan Thomas.
In 2002 he became the founder Musical Director of the Côr Y Ganolfan Gymraeg, a Welsh Medium Mixed Choir based in Merthyr Tydfil. In 2004 David took up the position of Deputy Musical Director to the Glynneath Male Voice Choir and in July 2005 was appointed as Musical Director to the Cefn Hengoed Ladies Choir. He has been in great demand as a guest conductor for various choirs across South Wales.
David has held the position of Organist at St Tydfil’s Well Church since 1995, and assisted at Ivor Chapel Dowlais between 1999 and 2000. He also holds the position of Churchwarden at St Tydfil’s Well Church and has become an established conductor of Cymanfaoedd Canu. David is also a member of Association of British Choral Directors, South East Wales Organist Association and is a Fellow of the Guild of Musicians and Singers
